The ruins are located 10 km north of Český Krumlov. The nearest railway station is Trisov (from the station to the ruins it is 1.5 km along a pleasant forest road).
The castle has stood here since 1349, when the noble Rožmberks began to build it. Construction took about 40 years. However, by the 16th century, the castle’s owner, Peter of the Rožmberk family, decided he no longer needed the castle and stopped taking care of it — from that moment on, the castle gradually fell into ruin. Such is the sad story of these beautiful ruins on the Vltava River.

The road to the castle is picturesque. From the nearest parking lot or train station, it’s a 30–40 minute walk to the castle through the forest.

On the stump it says that this is the chair of the last Rosenberg :)

Approaching the entrance.

The actual entrance. Here you can leave some coins for the castle’s restoration, or take something to read about the castle — its history in Czech and German. And they repeatedly say that you go to the castle at your own risk! :))

Arched entrance.

Of course, not much is left....

Castle courtyard.

Wall with stone inlay

In the castle courtyard there is this kind of field of stone blocks, and nearby there is a sign that says, "Please do not carry away the stones" :) I think these are collapsed walls - soon they will probably start restoring them.
