Matterhorn - Zermatt

Mountains · 6/16/2010 · Original language: Russian

In the Swiss village of Zermatt, cars are prohibited, so it is believed that the air there is incredibly clean. However, it seemed to us that this was just a trick for tourists. You can get to Zermatt only by train, which departs from the village of Täsch. In the village, of course, there are plenty of paid parking lots for cars. The train schedule and prices can be viewed here. In 2010, a round trip by train cost 12 euros per person.

You can stay in the village, although accommodation here is not the cheapest. But right as you exit the station, you will see a board with all the hotels, and it’s not just any board — it immediately shows which hotels are available today and how much a room will cost. A handy thing!

Prices for the lift to the Matterhorn can be checked on the official website.

The weather that day was no good. Our whole walk was ruined. It started to rain, and the Matterhorn was completely covered by clouds.... This is what we managed to see.... It was very disappointing.
