In the Düsseldorf subway
At the station in Weeze, we got on a bus that took us to the airport.
Weeze Airport is very small. We arrived very early and went for a walk in the little forest right next to the airport. Surprisingly, the forest turned out to be very dirty, with vodka and beer bottles. It started to rain, and we went back inside. We drank tea from a thermos with cookies. And then we flew off. The flight to Porto takes two and a half hours.
It took a long time and a lot of nerves to rent a car. It turned out that I had made the car reservation in my own name, which must match the driver's name (although the website did not warn about this anywhere). We had to make a new reservation online (because there was nothing we could do about the old one....)
In the end, we rented a white Fiat. I don't know the model, but it's a very stiff little car. It barely manages to climb small hills.
It is cool in Porto, and it is drizzling too.
On the way to the hotel, we stopped at a supermarket. It was around 8:30. They wouldn't sell us a bottle of wine. It turns out that in Portugal there is a law - alcohol is not sold in stores after 8:00 p.m. But we did buy a traditional pie for dinner - we always buy one like this on the first day of a trip :)
We arrived at the hotel very late. Too bad, it is located right in the center of a small town - but we had no strength left to go for a walk.
The room in the hotel is small, but very beautiful. With a blue wooden window.
