Livarot - Cheese Museum

Museums · 6/3/2010 · Original language: Russian

In the village of Livarot there is a factory that produces one of the most famous cheeses of Normandy. Livarot cheese has been known since the 13th century. During production, it is colored with a natural dye, which is why the cheese acquires a light orange color.

A museum has been opened on the factory premises. Admission to the museum is free. From 12 to 2 p.m. the museum closes for lunch.

You will be shown a film (we really watched it in French...) about how the cheese is made. Then you will be taken around the factory — you can observe the process live.

In addition, there is a branded shop at the factory, and sometimes at the end of the tour there is a free cheese tasting (for some reason they did not arrange one for us).
