San Miguel 2025

Day 7: July 4

Miradouro Grota do Inferno - Ponta da Ferraria

San Miguel 2025

Itinerary

The last day on the island of São Miguel.
In the first half of the day, I didn’t want to go anywhere.

I just wanted to lie under a tree and watch the sunbeams flicker through the green canopy.

Under the tree :)

In the evening, we went to one of the most popular viewpoints - Miradouro Grota do Inferno.

I said that São Miguel is an island of flowers. Look how many there are, right along the road.

This is Serzhyk captured a beautiful moment with almost no people around. Otherwise, it was quite crowded there.

The same Sete Cidades Lake is visible from the viewpoint (on the right)

But besides Sete Cidades, you can see a smaller emerald lake in the crater. It was very beautiful there. But if it weren’t for the crowd... It would have been even better.

Landscapes. How green San Miguel is!

On the way back, we wandered a little into the thicket. There were some interesting trees there. It’s not very clear in the photo, but the trees are growing not from the ground, but from a fallen log.

And now we’re heading to Ponta da Ferraria.

This is an interesting place with a natural "pool" where hot geothermal water "meets" the cold ocean water.

It’s better to come here at low tide, then there are no strong waves and a better chance of really warm water in the "pool".

I think we arrived perfectly — in the evening, almost at sunset.
It was very beautiful all around.

And there weren’t many people already (Serzhyk was the last one to get out of the "pool" :)

On the way to the “pool.” A beautiful arch.

Pool! Serzhyk said the water is warm, especially where people are sitting. Geothermal water comes up there.

Goodbye, San Miguel! It was cloudy in the morning....
