Düsseldorf - Santa Cruz - Punta Gorda
La Palma
La Palma is a small Canary Island west of Tenerife.
I had been thinking about visiting it for a long time.
But there are very few flights there, and they are usually expensive.

However, since Eurowings flies there for some reason only from November to April, I found a cheap flight on the “last” departure.
That’s how we ended up on La Palma :)

We’re approaching. Black volcanic rocks are visible.
I wanted to rent a convertible, but Serzhyk really wanted an electric car, so I agreed.
But when we came to pick it up, they spent a long time looking for something and in the end said that our electric car wasn’t available. Serzhyk joked, “Well, if that’s the case, then let’s take the convertible.”
And they gave us a convertible (a tiny Fiat 500) - dreams do come true :)

Our little convertible :)
To say it right away, a ride in a convertible is incredible.
It’s hard to put into words, but when the sky is above you and birds are flying and treetops are rushing by, it gives you a very special feeling.
And you really feel it when you put the roof up and realize that the world has been cut off, as it were.
As if you perceive only a tenth of it through the small windshield.
But, if we don’t idealize it, a convertible has many downsides :)
It’s either hot, or cold, or windy, or very bright.
And I also think that La Palma is the perfect place for a convertible.
It’s quiet here, the roads are narrow, you move very slowly, and there is beautiful nature all around.
And on the highway it would be noisy, and instead of the smell of pine trees there would be exhaust fumes.

On the way to our first accommodation. We’re spending two nights in the northwest of the island. Our house is located on the outskirts of the town of Puntagorda.

Our house and the huge pine tree

Dinner on the terrace. Of course, with jamón and wine. This is Spain!
By evening it had turned chilly. And inside the house it was even colder than outside.
We have a fireplace. But there was no firewood.
So we went looking for firewood right near the house.

Serzhyk gathered a whole pile of brushwood :)

From the terrace, you can see the ocean merging with the sky, and it feels as if you are at the edge of the world....
