Lanzarote 2019

Day 6: June 2

Playa Del Risco

Lanzarote 2019

Itinerary

Today we visited the most beautiful beach in Lanzarote.
The journey there is not a short one. So first we stopped and bought some food, and then set off.

The beach is surrounded by cliffs, and to get there you have to walk down a path for a very, very long time.

The descent took about 40 minutes. The view from the cliff is stunning. You can see the nearby island of La Graciosa, and the turquoise water is simply irresistible.

Descending to the bay

Descending to the bay

As expected, there was almost no one in the bay besides us. We swam naked, and it was so awesome. The water was so crystal clear.

After swimming, of course, a picnic :) We need to empty the backpack so it will be easier to hike back up.

Swimming all by ourselves

After we swam in the first bay, we went to the main beach - it is sandy and wide. It was terribly windy there. So windy that I could barely make it to the water to go for a swim.

People have built stone windbreaks on the beach, behind which you can shelter from the wind. We lay there for a while behind one such windbreak and then set off back. The climb, of course, is not easy - very steep. It took us about an hour to walk back. But it is definitely worth making such a trip at least once.

In the evening we go for a walk around the little town where we are staying — Arrieta. The town is very small, but it has a lovely promenade.

We were also going to go to a restaurant (I had read about the best restaurant in Lanzarote, and it is located right in Arrieta). But! It was closed too, and again for the very same reason — the restaurant had gone on vacation, only this time for a month! It seems that people in Lanzarote know how to live the right way — rest more and work for their own pleasure

Unfortunately, there are no photos of Arrieta at all :(

And still, nothing can compare in beauty to that first magical little town where we lived on the boat…
