Day 5: March 18

The sunshine didn’t last long. When the rain started, we drove on to the town of Villanueva de la Concepción, located in the mountains above Málaga.

Along the way, we stop to take photos of olive trees; all the hillsides are planted with them.

In the evening, we went to Torcal de Antequera (Wikipedia) - there are very beautiful karst rocks there.

Once, this was the bottom of a shallow sea. And then, as a result of the collision of the Eurasian and African tectonic plates, these mountains appeared.

Over millions of years, under the influence of wind and rain, they acquired these incredible forms that we see now.

It seems to me I’ve never seen anything like this before: rocks made up of “stone” pancakes, as if they were stacked one on top of another.

We walked around Torcal de Antequera for just an hour. And then it started raining again and we had to turn back.

We were also lucky enough to encounter a herd of Pyrenean ibex.

Day 5: March 18

For dinner, we bought salmorejo soup at the supermarket. Serzhyk heated it up. I don’t know what the Spaniards would say, but I found the warm salmorejo from the supermarket tastier than the one we tried in the restaurant.
