Rice Field
While riding the moped, it’s nice — a breeze, but walking under the scorching sun is rather hard. We kept darting from one patch of shade to another.

We really wanted to get up early to go for a walk before the intense heat started. We even set the alarm for 8 a.m., but that didn’t help much. We still got up closer to 11. By the time we made ourselves tea with oatmeal, we headed out at noon.
On the way, we stopped to take photos of the rice fields — they are simply mesmerizingly beautiful here. Such a rich green color.

First we went to the most famous attraction here — the Vittala Temple — and were quite disappointed with what we saw. I really wanted to see the stone chariot located on the temple grounds. They say that at one time the wheels of this chariot could turn, and it was used for rituals. The chariot, however, is the only thing we liked here.

Besides the chariot, there are several more temples on the site with beautiful stone figures and carved columns, but they are very similar to the ones we had already seen in Hampi and for free.
Then we went to another paid attraction — the royal complex. Here there are beautiful elephant stables, which I also really wanted to see, and it was basically worth it. In addition, there is an elegant building here — Lotus Mahal, where the queen supposedly rested, and the foundation of the royal palace.

By this time, we were already quite tired. We sat down to rest in the shade overlooking the elephant stalls. Volchyi fed the palm squirrels cookies.

We walked all the way to the far end of the complex - where almost no one goes anymore, and there are the ruins of yet another temple. We saw a black lizard with a yellow back.

A temple and not a single tourist. Heat.
Our strength was almost gone, but on the way home we stopped to see the underground temple of Shiva. The last hall here was flooded with water.

After that, we went to return our little moped — the second day of the rental had come to an end. However, we still had to somehow get to our hotel on the other side of the river. We crossed the river on foot and took a moped again. We didn’t really need it, but there was no way to get to the hotel without it, except by tuk-tuk, but it’s much more interesting on a moped.
