Wadi Musa
Jordan 2021
In the morning we leave the camp, saying goodbye to the desert. We are given a free ride to the village in a jeep. Now our route lies to Wadi Musa (111 km away) - the settlement near Petra.

On the way to Wadi Musa. Wind turbines.
They don’t want to check us into the hotel right away and ask us to wait until 2 p.m. We rest a little in the hotel lobby, and then decide to go to the “supermarket.” Here, a supermarket is a more or less large store with a checkout and price tags. Although all the prices are written in Arabic numerals, we still can’t make sense of anything. We buy canned hummus and some unfamiliar herbal tea (later we realized it was sage).
Our hotel is great, and I’m really happy. I spent a long time choosing it. We’ll be staying here for three nights. There was a box of baklava in the room — a complimentary gift from the hotel — and we drink coffee with it.
Today is our day of rest and doing nothing. We’re gathering strength before Petra.

Drinking coffee
In the evening we go for a walk around Wadi Musa. At the bakery we buy different cookies. We stop by a small shop to buy bananas and accidentally find ground coffee with cardamom there - impossible to pass by :)

We have dinner in a little restaurant with hummus and a mixed grill of kofta, chicken, and some other meat - everything is very tasty. While we eat, the restaurant fills up to the brim - there are no free tables.
