Cusco - Machu Picchu
Peru 2023
The breakfast at the hotel was incredible. We were served very unusual dishes.
I ordered a croissant with red fish. And Serzhyk ordered some clever dish — scrambled eggs on round lavash with guacamole and beans.

Today we are heading to the town near Machu Picchu — Aguas Calientes.
You can get to this town only by train; there is no road to it, and there are no cars in the town.
The train costs at least $60 per person one way — Peru knows how to make money from tourists.
There are no alternative options.
The most desperate ones walk more than 20 km along the railway from the town of Ollantaytambo.
First, we took a bus to the town of Ollantaytambo for about 2 hours.
On the way, we stopped at a viewpoint overlooking the mountains.
Souvenirs were sold at the viewpoint.
I liked the alpaca hat so much.
I don’t know what kind of wool it’s made from, but it feels so pleasant to the touch and doesn’t “itch” at all.
We bought me a hat :)

I’m in a hat :)
In Ollantaytambo, we boarded the train to Aguas Calientes.
The train ride takes an hour and a half.
The train is nice, comfortable, with large windows.
Outside the window, it is very, very beautiful — tall mountains covered with trees.
The railway runs along the river.
Already on the train, I noticed that something was wrong with Serzhyk; he was somehow not cheerful.
It turned out that he felt sick — nausea, weakness.
I thought it was because we had already been living at altitude for several days.
Serzhyk said that yesterday’s soup was to blame… I don’t know.
We arrived in Aguas Calientes. We walked to the hotel. Serzhyk is lying down; his temperature has risen a little.
Tomorrow we have to go to Machu Picchu. For now, I don’t know how.
I didn’t even go for a walk. I’m not in the mood.
But I finished writing the diary. To be continued… I hope.
