Bangkok-Krabi

Asia 2016

Itinerary

It takes an hour and a half to fly to Krabi. From the airport in Krabi, we got to the city itself by bus. Near the stop where we got off, there was a Thai café where the locals clearly ate. The rice and the gravies served with it looked very appetizing. We decided to eat.

The rice was insanely delicious. It was tasty to eat the rice by itself, even without any gravy. It was only 10 in the morning, so strange. I don’t remember ever eating rice with such pleasure at 10 a.m.

At the hotel, they asked us to go for a walk until 12 while they cleaned the room. We left our big backpack and went for a walk around Krabi. Since we had barely slept since leaving Kyiv, it felt like it was all one long, long day. It was very hot. The town of Krabi is not big, there’s not much to do there. There is a beautiful white temple.

Day 2, January 20

A clean, well-kept promenade, but no one swims there — the water is a terrible brown color. We walked along the main street with shops selling cheap clothes. By chance, we found a fruit market where we bought yellow mangoes.

We returned to the hotel and checked in. We decided to sleep a little. We slept again until evening. We went out in search of food.

Night Market

Night Market

We found a night market - but it was probably already quite late by Thai standards, and many people were already getting ready to leave, packing up their portable cafés.

Unfamiliar but delicious food

Seeing one of the Thais cooking something incomprehensible on a large frying pan, we ordered the same for ourselves. It smelled delicious and tasted pretty good, though it remained a mystery what it was.

We returned to the hotel along already empty streets. Here and there, awakened dogs were barking.
