Day 51, March 9

We were planning to go cycling around the lake today, but things somehow got off to a bad start in the morning. Volchemu had to work, and when he was free, we thought it was a bit late to head out on a bike trip — the hottest part of the day had just begun.

We could have gone somewhere nearby, so we still went into town to get bicycles. On the way, we found a local pub where everyone was drinking draft beer; we were just hungry, so we decided to stop in. The food was terrible, but the draft beer was good.

In the evening, we went to the monastery. It is located a couple of kilometers from the village of Nyaung Shwe. The monastery is wooden, like most monasteries in Myanmar, with oval windows.
